Dr. Scott B. MacDonald has a long history of work with sovereign risk analysis & fixed income research. He has US bank regulatory experience having worked for the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) in Washington, D.C. And sell-side experience with tours at Credit Suisse & Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette. And, he has buy-side/consulting experience with stays at Aladdin Capital Management (Head of Research), Mitsubishi Asset Management (Head of Research), and KWR International. He is also currently the Chief Economist for Smith's Research & Gradings, and a Senior Associate (non-resident) Americas Program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, D.C.
His expertise covers Asian, European, Latin American & Caribbean sovereigns. He has published numerous articles on international economic affairs and has written 18 books. The last two of which were State Capitalism's Uncertain Future (2015) and a second edition of Separating Fools from Their Money: A History of American Financial Scandals (2015). He is a Chelsea Football Club supporter.
